Raising Money For Children in Uganda and Kenya
10 March 2009
We would like to introduce you to our sponsored child. At Christams 2008, Sure Start Darlaston decided not to send Christmas cards, but to put the money towards sponsoring a child at a Spurgeons project in Uganda.
Our child is Winnie Nessali, a child of 8 years who has been orphaned by AIDS. Winnie lives with her aunt and the funds we send to her help her go to school, keep warm at night and make sure she has clothes to wear.
We are running lots of fundraising events throughout the year, aiming to sponsor a second child, as Winnie is just one of many children needing the care of the Spurgeons project. We are pleased to say we have raised £201 as a result of our events so far in 2009 - we need just £15 more to sponsor another child!
Keep track of our progress on our fundraising flower in the Ilmington House reception.
Many thanks for your help so far! We hope to bring you pictures and updates of Winnie and her progress as we receive them.
